How To Measure

Sheer Vertical Blinds, Cornices, and Swags & Jabots will fit your windows perfectly if you follow our simple instructions. First, these 3 principles are the basics to begin with and keep in mind:

1. If ordering for more than one window, measure every window. Windows may appear to be identical, but may not be exactly the same.

2. Use a metal tape measure. It will not stretch and distort your measurements.

3. Double check all of your measurements before placing your order.

To measure for a Sheer Vertical Blind:

WIDTH: Simply measure your window opening and add 7-8 inches. This is to allow for plenty of overlap on each side of the window preventing light gaps.

LENGTH: This is the length from the top of the Sheer Vertical Blind headrail to the bottom of the actual sheer.

You want to mount your Sheer Vertical 3 inches above the window opening. You may want to mount the headrail higher than 3 inches. Just keep in mind that the bottom of the Sheer Vertical should be 1/2" to 3/4" above the floor to allow for proper function.

To Measure for a Cornice or Swag & Jabot:

WIDTH:If you are mounting your cornice or swag & jabot above a Vertical Sheer Blind, you simply order your cornice or swag & jabot 4-6 inches wider than your sheer vertical.(2-3 inches on each side) Then simply mount above your Sheer Vertical Blind or other window treatment where it looks best. It's really that easy!

If you are ordering a cornice or swag & jabot for other windows in your home, you want to keep in mind what type window treatments (if any) the cornice or swag/jabot will overlap.

For example, if you have a curtain rod and draperies on that window, you would want the cornice or swag & jabot to overlap by 2-3 inches on each side. This really is all a matter of taste. Please call us if you would like help with this and we will gladly walk you through the measuring process.
